Monica Brown for Granbury ISD, Place 5

My Public Comment - September 15, 2025 Granbury ISD School Board Meeting

10/7/2025

Dedicated the first 60 seconds with silence out of respect and honor to Charlie Kirk and his stance for free speech.

My General Comments:

I am here for Accountability and Transparency

On the 86 acres – why the drop in price by $750,000 since listing in mid July? Please explain that massive price drop to the community.

Will you sell properties own by GISD for market rate or even less so the district as a whole can benefit from those funds rather than giving property away? (Decker Gym and United Way of Hood County Conflict of Interest and Lack of Transparency and Fiscal Responsiblity)

Donations Received – that’s great! Question: If a local business can donate $12,000 to a local elementary school and improve campus trees and landscaping – what other projected needs and/or wants could be addressed by the community without a bond that indebts our children and grandchildren?

Appraisal Appointments – As Trustees of GISD – you have a direct impact on the final bill tax payers pay each year. Please select fiscally conservative, proven board members for Hood County and the same for Parker and Johnson Counties – please only select fiscally conservative board members who will work with the No New Revenue Tax Rate idea and continue to support audits, forensic audits and total transparency with all three appraisal districts.

Blue Bonnet math is a GREAT MOVE IN A GREAT DIRECTION to improve math scores – thank you!
Please explain and help the community understand when you will support Blue Bonnet ELA and continue to support excellent, classical education for all students.

As for Financial Statements – Please explain when and how you will use the $16.1 million revenue surplus that was announced earlier this year?

When will the public know? In an effort for accountability and transparency – would you put up an expected timeline on your website so the citizens can all celebrate you using those funds wisely?
What will happen to the line item for insurance now that Trustees Lowery and Bolton helped the district save $250,000 – what will the board do with those funds?
