Hard Questions about Campaign Ethics

Hard Questions About Campaign Ethics

One candidate — an attorney and father of a GISD student — has crossed an ethical line by buying misleading domain names to confuse and harm his opponent’s reputation. This tactic violates the Texas Fair Campaign Practices Code and undermines the integrity of this election.

In contrast, his opponent — a 22 year volunteer mother and active member of our school community — has run a campaign focused on respect, transparency, and real issues affecting our schools.
In addition, a longtime trustee and candidate who has served Granbury ISD for over a decade, has remained silent despite these unethical tactics happening in plain sight in this upcoming election as well as the last election cycle.

Also, there are two specific people who regularly get behind the “Establishment” candidates and actively campaign for them and have out of order, unethical behavior.

Why would candidates choose to work with a man who was censored by the Republican Party of Hood County for his unethical behavior and his side kick who has proven to be unhinged and has attacked many conservative leaders in verbally and in writing?

Granbury voters please ask these critical questions:
• To the attorney-father: Why are you using deceptive tactics like buying domain names to attack your opponent instead of running a fair campaign based on issues?
• To the volunteer mother: Will you continue to lead with honesty and focus on what truly matters for our students?
• To the longtime trustee: Help us understand your silence? Will you speak up against unfair and unethical campaign practices and uphold integrity in our community?
• To the sitting Trustees: Will you operate according to the stated ethics for school board members and will you speak up when your colleagues are out of order with Campaign Ethics?
If a candidate cannot uphold basic ethics while asking for your vote, how can we trust them to act ethically in office?

It’s time for all candidates to be held accountable.

I contend that all will be MUCH BETTER in Granbury when Trustees follow written policy, especially related to ethics.
