What we Want Changed
Issues Facing Granbury ISD

What We’re Upset About & What We Want to Change!

Silencing Citizens — trustees interrupt and shut down community voices at board meetings.

Conflict of Interest — a trustee tied to United Way, giving away property without transparency.

Cronie Contracts — questionable bidding practices that have gone unchecked for decades.

Insurance Waste — board rejected less expensive, better insurance even after taxpayers were overcharged for years.

Violating Trustee Conduct — board members regularly break rules of ethics and responsibility.

Board President Interruptions — consitent disrespect toward citizens during meetings.

Three Failed Bonds — voters keep saying “no,” but leadership won’t listen.

Airplane Scandal —  administrator use of district-owned airplane for personal benefit with spouse,
another district employee).

Tax Burden — refusing to adopt the No New Revenue Tax Rate, sticking taxpayers with hidden increases.

Backdoor Tax Hikes — appraisals rise, rates don’t drop enough, families get soaked.

Cronyism Over Kids — decisions seem to protect insiders, not classrooms.

Lack of Transparency — parents and taxpayers kept in the dark on major financial and policy decisions.

Overemphasis on Testing — STAAR test obsession drains time, energy, and resources from real learning.

Wasteful Spending — money for perks and bureaucracy while classrooms go underfunded.

Ignoring Parents — trustees consistently put the establishment first instead of families. Grievances denied.

What We Want Instead

Free Speech at Meetings — citizens treated with respect, their voices heard.

No Conflicts of Interest — all trustees accountable and transparent in their roles.

Fair Bidding & Accountability — end crony contracts, demand competitive practices.

Fiscal Responsibility — adopt No New Revenue Tax Rate, protect taxpayers.

Focus on Education, Not Perks — stop wasteful spending on cronies and administrators.

Back to Basics Academics — excellence in reading, math and accurate inspirational history.

Inspirational Learning — bring back biographies and stories that build character and leadership.

End STAAR Obsession — shift focus from test prep to real skills and knowledge.

Parent Partnership — transparency in curriculum and respect for families.

Student Success First — every decision must benefit classrooms, not insiders.
